GRIB Files

GRIB Files (GRidded Binary) is a concise data format used in meteorology to store historical and forecast weather data. The data is presented "as is" without professional interpretation. The forecasts are most useful looking a few days ahead (the outlook).

GRIB Files can be downloaded via the Internet, or if at sea via satellite phone as email attachments and can be displayed using special purpose (free) software.
